CONTENT: This course is designed for students who are interested in computer science. The objective is to provide students with a background in problem solving techniques and algorithm development.
Students will learn to write programs with control structures and methods while adhering to object-oriented programming principles.
SKILLS: Critical thinking skills and development of methods for analyzing problems using the computer are stressed. Students will demonstrate proficiency by completing requested programs.

Introduction to Multimedia with Computers
1/2 credit elective
CONTENT: This course is designed to study the fundamentals of keyboarding, word processing, digital imaging, the Internet, and multimedia presentation software. All instruction will take place on networked multimedia computers. Students will be introduced to keyboarding and three productivity software packages: Microsoft Word, Adobe Photoshop CS4 and PowerPoint presentation software. Students will integrate these tools to design a final multimedia project.
SKILLS: The student will be able to use correct fingering and keystrokes to touch type at the computer with emphasis placed on speed and accuracy. The student will manipulate digitized photos with photo enhancement software, use the Internet to research topics for the final multimedia presentation and combine the skills learned in keyboarding, word processing and multimedia to generate an attractive, well planned multimedia presentation.

LENGTH OF COURSE: One semester
Video Technology
1/2 credit – Junior, Senior
CONTENT: Students will be introduced to the production process and team. The course provides training in image formation, digital video techniques on the video camera. Students will learn to operate the camera using light, color and lighting, audio and sound control, and graphics and effects. Students will acquire electronic information in formats including text, audio, video and graphics, citing the source using the Internet for research and for sharing resources. Students will publish information in saved files, Internet documents, CD-Rom or video.
SKILLS: Students will learn the operation of the camera, integration of audio/video analog and digital files into multimedia/video products. They will learn to use hardware, software and conversion tools.
