Drawing
1/2 credit – Sophomore, Junior, Senior
CONTENT: This course is a continuation of Visual Foundations with an emphasis on drawing. Both the ability to render real and imaginary will be explored. Students will gain a background of art history from each project.
SKILLS: The focus of this course is to develop the students’ ability to draw using a variety of mediums including pencil, prisma color ink, charcoal, pastels, and multimedia.

Painting
1/2 credit elective – Sophomore, Junior, Senior
CONTENT: This course is a continuation of Visual Foundations with an emphasis on color theory instruction to create a variety of painting styles. Students will gain a background in art history through each project.
SKILLS: Drawing skills will be further strengthened along with an introduction to watercolor, acrylic oil paint, and multimedia.
LENGTH OF COURSE: One semester-Spring
Theatre Arts
1/2 credit elective
CONTENT: The study of theater history and basic acting skills are undertaken in this course. Students will perform both classical and contemporary drama.
SKILLS: Students will examine how the theater reflects the characteristics of a society. They will explore aesthetic growth and gain a deeper understanding of theatrical events. They will study theater as an art form, dramatic structures and genres, and introductory techniques of acting, make-up, costume and scenery.

LENGTH OF COURSE: One semester
Music

CONTENT: Gaining knowledge of use of the keyboard, identify lines and spaces, write names of notes of each song; practice simple rhythm patterns in various meters; learn a variety of chords; learn at least 10 songs per semester; identify 10 classics and 10 composers per semester, do research on the 10 composers; identify one item of choice about each composer; do peer tutoring, if possible; perform for others on the electronic keyboard and pipe organ.
